Foreign citizens need valid visa to enter to Bangladesh. Depending on the purpose and place of visit, bilateral arrangements, reciprocity, and visa category, the duration and entry permission may be different. Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto issues visa for the Canadian citizens and legal Foreign residents. Applicants must fill-in the ‘DIP Online Application’ @ Step-1 and upload the same @ the BDCG Online Application @ Step-2. Please note, Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto issues ‘Visa Sticker’ and ‘Visa Stamp’ both.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:
The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto renders in-person consular services amid COVID-19 pandemic. Except few specific services (which need personal appearance), applicants can apply online followed by both way postal deliveries (with trackable return envelope). However, applicants are requested to follow the health guidelines/orders/measures promulgated by the provincial and federal government.
Applicants are humbly requested to follow below guidelines during their in-person appointment at the Consulate General:
i) For in-person interview/consular consultations/submission/collection, please be present at the Consulate General according to your appointment slot as scheduled online.
ii) Visitors must wear face mask, please note that Consulate follows ‘NO MASK NO ENTRY’ policy.
iii) After entering to the consular waiting room visitors must sanitize their hands and
iv) Once inside, visitors must respect social distances i.e., sit in designated chairs, stand only on designated red-marked spots, and maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

Required Documents for Visa
i) Passport with minimum 6 months validity. [Send/Submit to the Consulate]
ii) BDCG Online Application confirmation page. [Send/Submit to the Consulate]
iii) Filled-in ‘DIP Visa Application Form’ generated from the online MRV application @ www.visa.gov.bd [Upload @ BDCG online application]
iv) Non-Canadian passport holders should submit a copy of their legal status in Canada (PR/Work Permit/Study Permit) [Upload @ BDCG online application]
v) For minor children (below 18 years of age) Consent Letter signed by both the parents should be submitted as mandatory other document
vi) 45mmX35mm recent photograph with white background (not older than 6 months). A digital copy should be uploaded at the online applications and ONE HARD COPY OF 45mmX35mm PHOTOGRAPH MUST BE SUBMITTED/SENT WITH THE FOREIGN PASSPORT FOR VISA PRINTING. Please note that without hard copy of the photograph visa application will not be processed.
vii) If the applicant wishes to add any information/comments/documents in support of his/her application, may upload @ BDCG online application as an additional document.
viii) Online Payment/Bank draft/Postal Order or to be paid in person by Debit/Credit card at the Service Counter of the Consulate.
Special Note: For entry to Bangladesh travellers need to carry COVID-19 negative certificate obtained within preceding 72 hours of landing in Bangladesh. Travellers must show COVID-19 negative certificate on arrival at the airport/landport/seaport in Bangladesh. In appropriate cases, travellers may have to mandatory quarantine for 14 days after arrival in Bangladesh, please see ‘COVID-19 update’.
Additional documents required for specific types of visa
Tourist Visa:
i) Travel itinerary
ii) Copy of the air ticket.
iii) Copy of the hotel reservation or Letter of Invitation from the host in Bangladesh. Invitation letter should be sent to the Consular Section, Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto, Canada directly via e-mail at consular@bdcgtoronto.ca. Invitation letter must include a copy of Bangladesh Passport/NID or Trade License (for organization) of the host.
Business Visa:
i) Letter of Invitation (LOI) from the host company in Bangladesh clearly stating the purpose of the visit. LOI should be sent to the Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto at consular@bdcgtoronto.ca
ii) Trade License of the host company in Bangladesh.
iii) A letter from the concerned business organization in Canada introducing applicant’s employment status and the purpose of visit.
Work/Employment Visa:
i) Letter of Employment from the employer in Bangladesh and contract papers with full terms & conditions, including salary details.
ii) Letter of concurrence from concerned Department/Ministry in Bangladesh (if applicable).
iii) Letter of concurrence from Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Visa:
i) Letter of appointment from the respective NGO with full terms & conditions, including salary details.
ii) Clearance letter from the NGO Affairs Bureau, Bangladesh.
iii) A letter from the concerned organization in Canada introducing applicant’s employment status and purpose of visit.
Student Visa:
i) Letter from the respective educational institution attested by the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh.
ii) Certificate of financial guarantee.
Research/Internship Visa:
i) Letter from the concerned organization/institution in Bangladesh.
ii) Consent letter from the concerned Ministry in Bangladesh.
Investor Visa:
i) Letter of authorization from the Ministry of Industries or Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) or Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Dhaka
Missionary Visa:
i) Letter of appointment from the Church.
ii) No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bangladesh.
Tablig-Jamat Visa:
i) A Letter from the Tablig Markus of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
ii) If necessary, Consulate General may ask for a letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bangladesh.
Government Delegates Visa:
i) Diplomatic Note (Note verbale) from the concerned Ministry/Office of Canada mentioning the applicant’s position, duration of stay and purpose of visit to Bangladesh.
Diplomatic & Official visa:
i) Note Verbal or Official Letter from the Global Affairs Canada or the Foreign Diplomatic or Consular Missions mentioning the applicant’s position, duration of stay and date of joining in the concerned Embassy/Consulate/Mission/organisation in Bangladesh.
UN and other International Organizations visa:
i) Note verbal from the concerned Ministry/Office of Canada/Bangladesh mentioning the applicant’s position, duration of stay and purpose of visit to Bangladesh.
Journalist Visa:
i) Letter of request from the Employer/News Agency clearly stating the purpose of visit.
ii) Persons/Network/Organization requesting for shooting/filming in Bangladesh are requested to fill in FF-1 and FF-2 Form in addition to the visa application. Please fill in the forms and upload as other documents.
Visa on Arrival (VOA):
i) Visa on Arrival (VOA) can be stamped for the Bangladesh origin people who hold Foreign passport, and the citizens of those countries where there is no Diplomatic Mission of Bangladesh.
ii) Visa on Arrival will be issued on the understanding of the genuineness of the visit i.e. official duty, business, investment and tourism. Visa fees should be paid in foreign currency i.e. US$, GBP and EURO. (Issuance of VOA entirely subject to the satisfaction of the immigration officer)
iii) Passenger must carry a minimum of US$ 500 or equivalent of foreign currency in cash or credit card.
iv) Return ticket and
v) Documents to justify the purpose of the visit.vi) VOA would be given only for a period of maximum 30 days. If required, the stay under VOA can be extended by the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP), Dhaka.
Step 1: DIP Online Application

Application tips:
i) Applicant must apply for Bangladesh Visa @ DIP Online Visa Application portal.
ii) Applicant should require an email-address to complete this DIP Online Visa Form.
iii) Applicants should add his/her middle name (if any) with the first name in the ‘First Part (Given Name) box’ to reflect his/her full name in the Name Field of the DIP Form.
iv) Please keep i) passport information ii) 45mmx35mm photo (JPEG format, maximum 300KB) [Photograph is not mandatory, if you find difficulty to upload, please skip] iii) address in Bangladesh and iv) email Address handy for online visa application.
v) Please refer to Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, ensure that you have read all relevant guidance notes and confirm by ticking the checkbox [I have read the above information and the relevant guidance notes ].
vi) Applicant may save visa application on any page by clicking a specific icon ().
vii) Please select ‘New Visa Application’ at part 2 of the online visa application.
viii) ‘Travel Document Details’ at # 15. Date of Expiry may appear as: ‘19 – -‘ instead of ’20 – -‘. Please leave as it is -Consulate will correct it during visa printing.
ix) Please refrain from using any special character i.e. ‘,’ ‘-‘ ‘:’ ‘.’ ‘!’ ‘_’ ‘/’ ‘#” ‘%’ ‘^’ ‘&’ ‘*’ ‘( )’ ‘@’ ‘+’ ‘~’ ‘=” etc. at any point of filling up the application.
x) Please select ‘FM’ and select ‘Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto’ as Visa Office.
xi) Except date, skip payment info. at part 3 of the online visa application [applicable for applying at the Foreign Mission, because there is a separate payment option for paying at the Mission]
xii) Select the relevant documents in support of your visa application.
xiii) Applicant MUST download completed Online Visa Application in pdf before pressing ‘FINISH’ at the end of DIP application and upload the same later @ BDCG Online Application at step-2.

Special note: i) Please be patient, while your wait time to save the application pages may take longer than usual. ii) DIP Online Visa Application remains valid for 15 working days from the date of submission, after that online visa application will be removed automatically. Applicants must apply online to the Consulate General in Toronto followed by send/submit signed ‘Confirmation Page’ and Passport to the Consulate General within 14 days of DIP Online Visa Application. iii) Use of false document, lie, or hiding information may lead to visa refusal and/or ban from visiting Bangladesh for several years and iv) Presenting false Travel Document or Passport to the immigration authorities in Bangladesh is a punishable offense.
Step 2: BDCG Online Application

A confirmation page will be generated and a copy of that will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail, please print and sign the confirmation page.
Applicants must send/submit documents to the Consulate within 14 days of online application. Failure to submit document(s) within 14 days will result in automatic expiration/deletion of online application from DIP Online Visa Application portal. Applicants are strongly recommended to submit the documents at the Consulate within 14 days otherwise, he/she has to re-apply online @ www.visa.gov.bd and submit the digital copy of the ‘DIP Online Visa Form’ to the Consulate again.
Step 3: Document Submission
Applicant should send or submit i) signed confirmation page ii) applicant’s passport iii) ONE COPY OF 45mmX35mm PHOTOGRAPH (without photograph visa application will not be processed) and iv) Online payment or Bank draft/Money order/Certified cheque or pay by Debit/Credit card at the service counter of the Consulate.
By Post: Please send a self-address trackable return envelope with the documents to Consular Section, Bangladesh Consulate General, 2235 Sheppard Ave. East (Atria II), Suite # 1505, Toronto, ON M2J 5B5, Canada. Applications sent by post must reach to the Consulate General directly, no application will be collected from the post office or courier service. Applications received without trackable return envelope will not be processed.
In-Person: Applicant must be present at the Consulate General as per online appointment scheduled for in person submission. Booked appointment can be rescheduled/managed by login to Your Application and selecting ‘Manage Appointment’.
Step 4: Paying Fees
Government fees for ‘Visa’ is C$ 100.00 (single entry) and C$ 200.00 (multiple entry), please see Consular Fees. Applicant may pay online- a transaction receipt will be e-mailed to cardholder’s email OR Bank Draft/Postal Order addressed to the “Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto”. OR Applicant may pay through Debit/Credit card at the service counter of the Consulate.

Step 5: Processing
Consular Agent will examine the visa application and process.
Step 6: Disposal
By post: Passport (Travel Document) will be sent to the return address.
In-person: To collect the Passport (Travel Document) in-person, applicant may come to the Consulate on the date of delivery mentioned in the payment receipt.
Special note:
- Incomplete Application will not be processed.
- Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to request for any additional document at any stage of the application process.
- Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to withhold any application for further examination.
- Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to reject/cancel any application at any stage of the processing.
- If requires, Bangladesh Consulate General may request applicant for in-person interview.
- Consular fee paid to the Consulate General is non-refundable.
