No Visa Required (NVR)

Bangladesh origin foreign citizens (except SAARC countries) are eligible to obtain ‘No Visa Required (NVR)’ stamp on their foreign passports to visit Bangladesh. Bangladesh origin foreign citizen’s spouse and children are also eligible for NVR stamp. NVR stamp on the passport allows the holder multiple entries to Bangladesh with unlimited duration of stay within the validity of the passport.

⚠️ COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:

Toronto entered the stage-3 of reopening following the end of provincial ‘State of Emergency’ in view of Covid-19. Accordingly, the Consulate General of Bangladesh has resumed ‘in-person consular services’. However, as per the general precautionary guidelines/measures in stage-3, unless it is absolutely necessary, we urge you not to visit the Consulate General for ‘in-person’ consular services. You may avail all our consular services digitally through online following postal delivery.

If you think it is an absolute necessity for you to visit the Consulate General for any consular service, please adhere to the following guidelines:

i) Visitors may please confirm their prior appointments for ‘in-person consular service’ with Consulate.
ii) Visitors must approach to the concierge/reception at the downstairs lobby and strictly maintain queue to come up to the Consulate General.
iii) Queue wait time in the elevator must be patiently maintained.
iv) Visitors must wear face mask.
v) Visitors must wear hand gloves.
vi) After entering the consular waiting room visitors must sanitize their hands.
vii) Once inside the consular waiting room, visitors must respect social distancing i.e. sit in designated chairs, stand only on designated red-marked spots, and maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

Required Documents for Visa

Bangladesh origin Foreign Citizens:

i) Foreign Passport with minimum 6 months validity.
ii) Non-Canadian passport holders should submit a copy of their legal status in Canada (i.e. Canadian PR or Work Permit or Study Permit).
iii) 45mmX35mm recent photograph with white background (not older than 6 months).
iv) Proof of Bangladesh nationality (Passport*/NID/Birth Certificate).
* For Machine Readable Passport (MRP) the bio-pages (Page 2 & 3) and for old hand-written Passport the first 6 pages along with any other pages containing endorsement/observation.
v) Travel history of the applicant for the last 3 (three) months.
vi) COVID-19 symptom free certificate/doctor’s note obtained from a registered medical practitioner in Canada. This certificate/doctor’s note should be obtained within the preceding 72 hours of the submission of application*.
vii) Online payment/Bank draft/Postal Order or to be paid in person by Debit/Credit card.

Foreign-born Children:

i) Foreign Passport with minimum 6 months validity.
ii) Non-Canadian passport holders should submit a copy of their legal status in Canada (i.e. Canadian PR or Work Permit or Study Permit).
iii) 45mmX35mm recent photograph with white background (not older than 6 months).
iv) Parents’ valid or expired Bangladesh Passport*/NID.
* For Machine Readable Passport (MRP) the bio-pages (Page 2 & 3) and for old hand-written Passport the first 6 pages along with any other pages containing endorsement/observation.
v) Travel history of the applicant for the last 3 (three) months.
vi) COVID-19 symptom free certificate/doctor’s note obtained from a registered medical practitioner in Canada. This certificate/doctor’s note should be obtained within the preceding 72 hours of the submission of application*.
vii) Online payment/Bank draft/Postal Order or to be paid in person by Debit/Credit card.

Foreign Spouse:

i) Foreign Passport with minimum 6 months validity.
ii) Non-Canadian passport holders should submit a copy of their legal status in Canada (i.e. Canadian PR or Work Permit or Study Permit).
iii) 45mmX35mm recent photograph with white background (not older than 6 months).
iv) Marriage Certificate, if the Marriage Certificate is not in Bangla or English, notarized copy of the official translation either in Bangla or English is compulsory.
v) Spouse’s Bangladesh Passport*/NID/Birth Certificate.
* For Machine Readable Passport (MRP) the bio-pages (Page 2 & 3) and for old hand-written Passport the first 6 pages along with any other pages containing endorsement/observation.
vi) Travel history of the applicant for the last 3 (three) months.
vii) COVID-19 symptom free certificate/doctor’s note obtained from a registered medical practitioner in Canada. This certificate/doctor’s note should be obtained within the preceding 72 hours of the submission of application*.
viii) Online payment/Bank draft/Postal Order or to be paid in person by Debit/Credit card.

* Special Note: Applicant may need to carry another COVID-19 symptom free certificate/doctor’s note obtained within the preceding 72 hours of landing in Bangladesh. A traveler must show such certificate/doctor’s note on arrival in any airport/landport/seaport in Bangladesh.

  • Applicant can use older No Visa Required stamp on the expired Passport as a supporting document.
  • In case of name change, copy of the Affidavit must be attested by appropiate authorities.

A ‘Confirmation Page’ will be generated and a copy of that will be sent to the applicant via e-mail. Please print and sign the Confirmation Page.

Step 2: Document Submission

Applicant should send or submit i) signed Confirmation page ii) applicant’s Passport and iii) Bank draft/Money order/Certified cheque or payment by Debit/Credit card to the:

In-Person:

Please book online appointment; for in-person submission, payment can be made by Debit/Credit card at the ‘Service Desks’ of the Consulate General.

Step 3: Paying Fees

Government fee for ‘No Visa Required’ is C$ 80.00. Applicants may choose to Pay Online using Cards; a Transaction Receipt will be e-mailed to the Cardholder’s email address OR through Bank Draft/Postal Order addressed to the “Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto”.

In case of In-person submission applicants may pay through Debit/Credit cards at the ‘Service Desk’ of the Consulate General. For details please see Consular Fees.

The Consulate General of Bangladesh does not accept any cash payment.

Step 4: Processing

Consular Agent will examine the NVR application and process.

Step 5: Disposal

‘Passport(s)’ will be sent to the return address. If applicant wants to collect the passport(s) in-person, may approach the Consulate General on the ‘date of delivery’ as indicated on the payment receipt.

  • The Consulate General of Bangladesh reserves the right to request for any additional document at any stage of the Authentication process.
  • The Consulate General of Bangladesh reserves the right to withhold any application for further examination.
  • If requires, the applicant may be requested for an interview with the Consulate General of Bangladesh.
  • All payment made to the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto is non-refundable.
