New Machine-Readable Passport

Bangladesh citizens living in Canada- who have old Hand-written Passport and did not get Machine Readable Passport (MRP) yet or foreign born Bangladeshi children who do not have Bangladesh Passport may apply for New Machine Readable Passport (MRP) @ Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto.

If the current Machine Readable Passport (MRP) has Expired or needs Information Alteration/Correction(s) or Unusable, applicants should apply for ‘Re-issue Machine Readable Passport’.  

Applicants MUST fill-in ‘MRP Online Application @ Step-1 and upload the pdf copy of the application @ Step 2 -BDCG Online Application.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto renders in-person consular services amid COVID-19 pandemic. Except few specific services (which need personal appearance), applicants can apply online followed by both way postal deliveries (with trackable return envelope). However, applicants are requested to follow the health guidelines/orders/measures promulgated by the provincial and federal government.

Applicants are humbly requested to follow below guidelines during their in-person appointment at the Consulate General:

i) For in-person interview/consular consultations/submission/collection, please be present at the Consulate General according to your appointment slot as scheduled online.
ii) Visitors must wear face mask, please note that Consulate follows ‘NO MASK NO ENTRY’ policy.
iii) After entering to the consular waiting room visitors must sanitize their hands and
iv) Once inside, visitors must respect social distances i.e., sit in designated chairs, stand only on designated red-marked spots, and maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

Required Documents for New Machine-Readable Passport (MRP)

i) BDCG Online Application confirmation page. [Submit to the Service Counter of the Consulate in-person] 
ii) Filled-in ‘DIP Form-1’ generated from the online MRP application @ www.passport.gov.bd. [Upload @ BDCG online application]  
iii) One 45mmX35mm recent photograph with white background. [Upload @ BDCG online application] 
iv) Copy of the National ID or 17-digit Birth Registration certificate. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
v) Doctors, Engineers, Motor vehicle Drivers and other Professionals should submit appropriate certificate in support of their profession. [Upload @ BDCG online application]  
vi) Minor applicants (under 15 years) must upload father and/or mother photographs with their application. [Upload @ BDCG online application]  
vii) Retired Government employees may submit photocopy of the ‘Pension Book’ for availing ‘Express Service’ with regular fee. [Upload @ BDCG online application]  
viii) For official passport, applicants must submit copy of the Government Order (GO) in support of their application. [Upload @ BDCG online application]  

ix) Copy of the Canadian photo ID (Passport/PR card/Study Permit/Work Permit/Driver’s License). [Upload @ BDCG online application]  
x) If applicants wish to add any further information/comments/documents in support of their application, may upload @ BDCG online application.  
xi) Bank Draft/Money Order/Certified cheque or Online payment or to be paid in-person by Debit/Credit Card at the Consulate.

Special note:  For biometrics and photograph in-person presence at the Consulate is mandatory for New Machine Readable Passport (MRP). 

Step 1: DIP Online Application

Application tips:

i) Please tick ‘I have read the above information and the relevant guidance notes and continue to Online Enrolment.  
ii) Please select ‘Canada’ as your country of application. 
iii) Fill the form correctly with all mandatory fields (*) and click “Save” button. 
iv) Applicants should add his/her middle name (if any) with the first name in the ‘First Part (Given Name) box’ to reflect his/her full name in the passport. 
v) At the ‘Passport Application- stage 3’ (Payment Information) applicants must select ‘Non-Online’ followed by ‘Skip Payment’. 

vi) Applicants will receive an email containing Application ID and Password. Please preserve this DIP application ID and Password carefully for future use i.e.  print/view/modification of the online application. 
vii) To submit the ‘DIP Form-1’, click “submit” button; applicant is not allowed to modify anything after clicking “submit”. After submission, applicants should download a pdf copy of the filled-in ‘DIP Form-1’ for onward upload to the BDCG Online Application. 
viii) DIP Online Application (DIP Form-1) remains valid for 14 days from the date of submission, after that online application will be removed automatically. Applicants must be present at the Consulate within 14 days of online application.

Special note:  For new MRP, applicants have to be present in-person at the Consulate for photograph and biometrics.

Step 2: BDCG Online Application

Click here »» Create profile »» Choose service »» Upload photograph »» Complete online application »»  Upload all required Documents »» Book appointment »» Save & Submit.

A confirmation page will be generated and a copy of that will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail, please print and sign the confirmation page and submit during your in-person appointment. 

Special note: Applicants must submit documents in-person at the Consulate within 14 days of online application. Failure to submit document(s) within 14 days will result in automatic expiration/deletion of online application from DIP Online portal. Applicants are strongly recommended to submit the documents at the Consulate within 14 days otherwise, he/she has to re-apply online @ www.passport.gov.bd and submit the digital copy of the ‘DIP Form-1’ to the Consulate again. 

Step 3: Document Submission

Applicant should submit i) signed confirmation page and ii) Bank draft/Money order/Certified cheque or pay Online or pay in-person by Debit/Credit card at the ‘Service Counter’ of the Consulate.

In-Person: For biometrics and photograph in-person presence at the Consulate is mandatory for New Machine Readable Passport (MRP). Applicant should be present at the Consulate as per scheduled online appointment; appointments can be rescheduled by login @ Your Application.

Special note: If applicant wants to receive his/her MRP by post, may leave a self-addressed trackable (Xpresspost) return envelope at the ‘Service Counter’ during biometrics. As soon as Consulate receives New MRP from DIP, Dhaka, Bangladesh, it will be sent to the applicant.

Step 4: Paying Fees

Government fee for new MRP issue is C$ 150.00 (Regular) and C$ 300.00 (Express). For Bangladesh students studying in foreign country new MRP issue fee is C$ 45.00 (Regular) and C$ 150.00 (Express), please see Consular Fees. Applicant may pay online (transaction receipt will be emailed to the cardholder) or Bank Draft/Postal Order/Certified Cheque addressed to the “Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto” or applicant may pay through Debit/Credit card at the ‘Service Counter’ of the Consulate General.

[Consulate General of Bangladesh does not accept any cash payment]

Step 5: Processing

Consular Agent will examine the New MRP application and process. Please note that MRP booklet is printed by the Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As soon as Consulate receives MRP booklets from Dhaka, it will be mailed to the applicant (through return envelop) OR applicant will be notified for in-person collection.

[Your enrollment ID will be available  once your application is enrolled in the DIP system. If you applied through Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto, your enrollment ID will begin with CAN20000000XXXXX ]

Step 6: Disposal

By post: New MRP will be mailed, if applicant leaves trackable return envelop at the service counter during his/her biometrics in the Consulate.  

In-person: Applicant will be notified for in-person collection. 

Special note:

  • Incomplete Application will not be processed.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to request for any additional document at any stage of the application process.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to withhold any application for further examination.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to reject/cancel any application at any stage of the processing.
  • If requires, Bangladesh Consulate General may request applicant for in-person interview.
  • Consular fee paid to the Consulate General is non-refundable.
